Showcased at Nintendo's Indie World event, Kyoko and Misako are back for another bout of street brawling action in this follow-up to 2019's whacky spin-off beat 'em up. Joined by Kunio and Riki, two new characters are added to the fray in Marian (the former Double Dragon damsel in distress) and Provie in an adventure that's aiming to be bigger than the first game.
Developed by Wayforward Studios (the Shantae series and Mighty Switch Force) and published by Arc System Works, 2019's River City Girls was a surprise treat for longtime fans of the Kunio series, as well as spearheading the return to form of brawler games with its great music, solid controls, and lovable characters. The city will be expanded on regarding:
- New open areas
- New special attacks
- New and returning enemies
- Two-player online co-op
- RGC1 composer Megan McDuffee returns to provide a new soundtrack
River City Girls is planned for release in the summer of 2022 for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. A special limited edition has been confirmed by Limited Run Games.
