Often seen at Game Stream Festivals, the details about the official release date of Windjammers 2 has been elusive. It appears a street date may be closer to fruition. Developers Dotemu, makers of Streets of Rage 4 and TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, have announced an open beta for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC August 11 and will go live 3pm CEST! The beta will run until August 22.

The beta's features will include 

- 4 Stages: Beach, Stadium, Ring, and Rooftop

- 4 Playable Characters: Gary Scott, Loris Biaggi, Steve Miller, and Sophie de Lys (Sophie is a brand new character)

- 1 Mode: Online Ranked Only, (plus leaderboard)

Several delays in the past were to ensure that the online experience was up to par to provide the best possible gameplay. Then very likely (once again, in unison) complications from the coronavirus halted efficient development, shifting its release window from 2020 to 2021.
