Data Breach In Capcom Leaks Out Resident Evil Village Plot Online

Leaks in the industry have become dangerously commonplace, undercutting developers and publishers' ability to maintain anticipation for upcoming releases. Capcom now has has been critically struck by hackers that not only leaked the cutscenes of its latest entry in the Resident Evil series, Village, and revealing its plot from start to finish, but also the roadmap of the series for years down the road. This stems from the attacks last week, and more info has been trickling out detailing Capcom's future releases. The hacker groups also possibly stole personal information from thousands of customers.

Other Resident Evil details reveal Resident Evil Revelations 3 for the Nintendo Switch. According to DuskGolem, it may be for the Switch what Code Veronica was for the Dreamcast. Included was some information on the Residen Evil 4 Remake, as some 3D model assets were revealed in the leak.

The Switch will have two timed exclusives, one codenamed "Guillotine", which is reportedly a new Ghosts 'N Goblins game that runs on the RE Engine, and Arcade Stadium. Guillotine will be a Switch exclusive from February 25th to June 1st. The data indicates Arcade Stadium will be a collection of Capcom fighting games, Street Fighter not included. Given the recent trademark renewals of Darkstalkers, Power Stone, and Rival Schools, and Capcom's backlog of fighting games like Cyberbots, Star Gladiator, and Red Earth, that's an easy library to fill.

While the details about future Resident Evil projects are assuring and provide something to look forward to, the data breach that spoils the plot of Capcom's highly anticipated sequel and customers being exposed could have some long-term ramifications.
