Friday The 13th the Game To Be Officially Pulled From Storefronts At The End Of The Year

One of the most beloved multiplayer games starring Hollywood's hockey mask-wearing psychopaths is heading closer to its fate as time rolls forward. Come late 2023, Illfonic's license for the Friday the 13th property will expire, and the game will be delisted from every platform. With rights and ownership issues surrounding the franchise for years, this seemed inevitable. The official Friday The 13th Twitter account posted the following statement:

"The time has come. Our license for Friday the 13th will expire come December 31st, 2023. On that date, the Friday the 13th game will no longer be available for sale, both physically and digitally.

The game will, however, continue to function through at least December 2024, if you already own it. At this time, we've made the decision to reduce the price to $4.99 for the base game, and $0.99 for each piece of DLC content. We will continue to offer the title and content at that price right up until it is removed from physical/digital storefronts on December 31st 2023."

The studio, in the meantime, will be preparing for the upcoming release of its latest project, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Game, which in many ways will follow the same style of PvP survival horror action. Their previous works include Predator: Hunting Grounds and Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, showcasing their prowess in the multiplayer genre.

"We would like to thank our community for the dedication they've shown to Friday the 13th: The Game and Gun Interactive as a whole, and we are happy that the game will live a while longer and continue to be enjoyed by anyone enjoying the game already."
