Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection's Advisories Warn Players Of 'Outdated Content'

Much of the details surrounding Konami's release of Metal Gear Solid Master Collection vol.1 when it comes to specs seem to have consumers either content or asking for more. The games appear to be built based on the Bluepoint-developed 2012 HD releases, with the resolution set at 720p on the Nintendo Switch, with other versions potentially running higher.

Kojima fans can rest easy, as the original content of the games remain completely intact without any changes made to dialogue or themes. According to GamesRadar, the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection vol.1 comes with a content advisory, alerting players of material that may not have aged well with the times.

“This game contains expressions and themes which may be considered outdated. However, these elements have been included without alteration to preserve the historical context in which the game was made and the creator's original vision. Player discretion is advised."

This is probably the closest Konami will ever get to addressing series creator Hideo Kojima, who mutually parted ways with Konami in 2015, citing creative differences. Kojima, as creatively dynamic as he is, is...an interesting fellow, and many themes from the Metal Gear Solid games can be considered more than questionable by 2023 standards. Snake smoking cigarettes, some of the mild homophobic jokes made at Raiden's expense, and probably most prominent is the quite forward objectifying and sexualization of some female characters throughout.

And this is only the first volume. Between the implied incestuous relationships and some of the more leery camera angles throughout Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, a new generation is going to be in for a ride with #KojimaContent.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection will be released October 24th for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
