Multiversus Development Team Announces A Roadmap For A Spring Launch

It's been a long time since the fanbase has heard from Multiversus. Published by Warner Bros games and developed by Player First Games, the platform fighter's open beta launched in July 2022, and was pulled from PlayStation, Xbox, and Windows digital storefronts after the beta period ended in June 2023.

On March 11th, after a lengthy silence, a development update was published on WB Games' YouTube channel, hosted by lead game director Tony Hyunh, providing some long-awaited information on Multiversus' return. Among the updates, the game will jump to Unreal Engine 5 for improved visuals and physics, new stages (Dexter's Laboratory can be seen), and the addition of rollback netcode.

A PvE mode (player vs environment) has also been mentioned by Hyunh. One of the heavier criticisms regarding Multiversus during its beta period was the lack of character updates and a dearth of content. With the addition of PvE, the extra modes can flesh out the game's single player experience. he also spoke of the aforementioned new characters, but revealed nothing beyond that. the beta period also had roadmaps where customers paid for the DLC characters and such, it may be addressed if that will be restored to players' accounts when the servers relaunch.

A winner of the 2023 DICE Awards Fighting Game of the Year, Multiversus will launch May 28th 2024
