PlayStation London Studio Announces Its Closure After Two Decades

PlayStation London Studio, a subsidiary of the Sony division, made news that they are shutting down their division today. This news follows Sony's announcement regarding global layoffs, in wake of the company's restructuring. Founded in 2002, the team made a heartfelt statement on their Twitter/X account.

For over twenty years London Studio has been home to some exceptionally talented and wonderful people in the games industry. As we close the doors, and all go forward to new adventures, we wanted to say a heartfelt thank you, to all our past and present, players and colleagues who have supported us over the years. We’ve had one wild and wonderful journey!

London Studio was formed following the merger between Psynosis' Camden Studio and Team Soho. They aided in development of Sony titles like The Getaway, Killzone, and lots of software for the infamous EyeToy. London Studio also played a part in PlayStation's VR rendering technology, as well as the VR first person shooter Blood and Truth.

As Sony continues carving out its new direction, this likely won't be the last the gaming world hears about the reduction of staff.
