While the era of Batfleck came to a rather abrupt end, the anticipation of who shall don the cape and cowl, and the name of the director at the helm. 35 year old actor Robert Pattinson was designated to portray the role of the Dark Knight in the Matt Reeves directed incarnation of The Batman, a telling of the caped crusader's story in year two of his career. At DC's FanDome 2021, a more in-depth trailer has given everyone a taste of what the film has to offer, and it's appearing to be a rather gritty detective story.

With the Covid-19 pandemic pushing back filming and development, The Batman's release date was always in a state of flux, now aiming for a 2022 release. While Reeves chose not to base this film off a particular comic book story, it borrows inspiration from the 13-issue story The Long Halloween. A Younger Bruce finds himself battling wits with a serial killer calling himself "The Riddler", played by Paul Dano. Alongside Pattinson, Zoey Kravitz stars as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jeffery Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot.

The Batman hits theaters March 4, 2022. What are your thoughts? Feel free to share them, we would love to know what you think.
