19 Minute Gameplay Preview of From Software's Elden Ring

For the last 14 years, From Software has set a standard for intricate gameplay and a pace-altering difficulty with the Dark Souls series and Bloodborne, coining the term "Soulslike" among the community. Fans anticipating the first look at director Hidetaka Miyazaki's newest entry in the line of games, Elden Ring were finally given a gameplay sample for the upcoming action RPG, courtesy of Bandai Namco and From Software.

This 19 minute preview offers a glimpse into the world known as Lands Between, which was constructed by Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin. The trailer opens up with a daunting battle against a dragon and a first look into how the combat works, some dungeons such as Stormgrave Castle, and a brief introduction to some of the characters. A narration introduces mechanics and aspects of the games functions, such as placing beacons, waypoint markers. Spiritstrings exist to launch the player onto higher platforms, making travel much easier.

Along with its versatile combat, Elden Ring also showcases its ability to summon spirits, with the game boasting a variety of them for players to flex their options. Stealth will also play a crucial role in how one travels safely. Multiplayer is touched on how it will function at Elden Ring's launch. The trailer ends on an inconclusive boss fight with a vicious mutated creature.

Elden Ring releases on February 25, 2022 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The Elden Ring closed network test runs from November 12 through November 14 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
