Armored Core VI: Fires Of Rubicon Gets A Release Date, First Look At Gameplay

The Armored Core series returns this summer with Armored Core VI: Fires Of Rubicon. The development team behind Blooodborne, Sekiro, the Dark Souls series, and 2022's Game of the Year, Elden Ring, FromSoftware brings their craft back to the fast-paced and challenging mecha-based action series.

Fires of Rubicon was announced during The Game Awards towards the end of 2022, marking the first new entry in the franchise since 2013's Armored Core: Verdict Day. Leaked images were found of this project back in Janurary 2022.

Taking place on Planet Rubcon-3, mankind found a revolutionary energy source that changed technology. However, the power behind this source caused the entire star system to become engulfed in flames. Centuries later, humanity once again attempts to harbor this volatile resource. Play as a mercenary and take on jobs from mega-corporations and resistance groups with you machine and forge your living path.

As customary with the series, players will customize their mechs, from short-range melee options and long-range weapons in the open-ended mission layouts Armored Core has been known for. The multi-dimensional combat returns to keep track of the intense action, as battles take place in both air and on the ground. FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki initially revealed in 2016 that a new Armored Core game was in very early development. Fires of Rubicon will mark the directorial debut of Masaru Yamamura, who lead the game design of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon launches August 25th for the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Windows.
