Everything We Know About Assassin's Creed: Valhalla

The newest title in the Assassin's Creed franchise takes place in 9th century England. You play as a "Eivor", a Viking clan leader and warrior. Your clan has left Norway behind and decided to take up residence in England, which isn't very welcoming to you or your friends. While you are staking out new territory you will have to deal with the Saxon's who want you off their land.

This actually mimics real history. Between 860 and 900 AD Vikings were regularly trying to take over England. The events of this game take place before that with King Alfred and the Great Wessex, a real person and the royal who is in the trailer. King Alfred is one of the a handful of rulers of England who actually succeeded in fighting the Norse forces back off of England's shores.

RETURN TO OLD ASSASSIN'S CREED?

With Origin's, Assassin's Creed took a swift right turn into the RPG category, and that continues through to Valhalla. While I like the new system, I do miss the older system.

The new game is going to add more branching dialogue choices and "advanced RPG mechanics".

CUSTOMIZATION

Since it's an RPG now, we will be getting the full assortment of customization options. You will be able to play as a Male or Female character. Change their accessories, tattoos, clothing, and even hair style.

It also doesn't stop there. You can also wield a wide assortment of weapons from axes to long swords to even bows.

Players will also be able to hunt, fish, and - for the first time ever in an Assassin's Creed game - poetry battles!

Gone is the eagle from the previous Assassin's Creed games and in comes a raven. The raven will be your eyes on this adventure, he will help you spot hidden caves and even tag enemies for you.

A SETTLEMENT NEEDS YOUR ATTENTION

One of the biggest draws of Valhalla is the settlement system. You play a major role in how your Norse settlement develops. Settlements work as a major hub for quests and all of your decision making. Besides the usual assortment of blacksmiths and barracks, you can even build a tattoo parlor cause whats a Viking with out a lot of tattoos?

COMBAT

Combat is said to be brutal, probably the most visceral combat to ever grace an Assassin's Creed game. The Saxon's won't be easy. There will be heavily armored Saxon warrior's who will have weak points in their armor that you will need to find and exploit.

Eivor is going to be insane in the combat department. You will have throwing axes, a kind of staple of Viking combat. You will also be able to dual-wield any 2 weapons, including shields. Eivor also has the hidden blade, which we caught a glimpse of in the trailer.

MULTIPLAYER

While Ubisoft has confirmed that there is no multiplayer in this game, players will be able to share their custom Viking raiders with friends. During the course of the game, you will be able to build custom unique mercenary Vikings who you can send to help your friends for loot and XP.

PRESENT-DAY?

Oh yeah, we will see a continuation of the present day story line also. We will still be controlling Layla Hassan and help her on her adventures of modern day. No, there is no planned option to skip any of these events... sadly.

JUST SHUT UP AND TELL ME WHEN AND HOW TO PLAY THIS!

Ok ok.

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla will launch holiday of this year for the X1, PS4, Series X, PS5, and PC (Epic Store & Uplay). No word on a Switch release.

You can watch the entire trailer below.

Personally, I am very excited. I love the Assassin's Creed games and this is going to be a day one purchase for me.

That's it for now. This has been James with Game Fix. Game on everybody!
