Friday The 13th Announces Last Patch, Shutting Down Its Servers

The Friday The 13th game has been marred in development and content limbo since a lawsuit over the intellectual property started in 2017. All things must come to an end, and an official statement that the next patch rollout this November will essentially bring its three year run to a close.

Lead community developer Matt Shotcha wrote about it in an update on Tuesday: Dedicated Servers for Friday the 13th: The Game will be decommissioned in the upcoming patch, set to roll out this month, November 2020. What this means is that the game will revert back to peer to peer matchmaking for Quick Play lobbies. The Database Servers, however, will stay active and continue to house all player progression and unlocks, so users can continue to play Friday the 13th: The Game via peer to peer Quick Play and Private Matches.

Activity from Friday the 13th's social media accounts will be limited, so don't expect too much activity from there. The forums will be archived, so they can be viewed for material, but will no longer be able to post in them.

Since the lawsuit pertaining to the characters derailed any possibilities for DLC and robust additions, for Friday the 13th: The Game to maintain this much support is a true testament to the community to keep the game active for more than two years. it will continue to be for purchase and troubleshooting matters will still be attended to. The closed servers, however, leaves the healthy state of the game entirely up to players. Once the user base begins to eventually thin will it be shut down. The fate of Friday the 13th was inevitable, but the prolonging of its demise has been nonetheless impressive.
