Get A Preview Of What's Coming In The Genshin Impact 4.0 Preview: 'As Light Rain Falls Without Reason'

Following the freeing of the Dendro archon in Sumeru during version 3.0 last August, the release of Genshin Impact 4.0 is just a shade under two weeks away. With this update will come with a new Archon quest, events, character & weapons wish event banners, some new artifact sets, and bosses. The event kicked off with a 45 minute live stream, which was headlined by the introductory trailer to the Nation of Justice, Fontaine. This will be the fifth nation of Teyvat players will have a chance to experience.

Along with its regularly scheduled maintenance following a new addition (which will begin on the East Coast at 11pm on August 15th, 10pm CDT, 8pm PDT), three new characters will join the banner lineups, as well as some reruns, such as the five-stars Zhongli and Tartaglia (Childe). New to the roster, the magician Lyney and his assistant Lynette, along with Freminet.

NEW CHARACTERS

Lyney ~Spectacle of Phantasmagoria~

A bow user with a Pyro vision, Lyney is a Fontainian magician who possesses great stage presence, as well as the gift of the gab. Audiences will be awed by his exquisite skills, as they hang on his every word. Lyney will be a five-star character on the banner, running opposite of the returning five-star Yelan, a Hydro bow. Lyney's signature weapon, The First Great Magic, will be on the weapons banner.

Lynette ~Elegance in the Shadows~

A sword-wielding Anemo user, Lynette is a magic assistant of very few words. With grace and nimbleness, Lynette is very good at acquiring and retaining information. Lynette will be a four-star character on the banner. Lynette will also be FREE for players who reach Adventure Rank 25

Freminet ~Yearning for Unseen Depths~

A reserved young man well-versed in diving, Freminet is a Cyro greatsword user. Beneath his icy demeanor lies a pure heart bereft of flaws. He will be a four star banner character.

Fontaine will also feature a new underwater swimming and combat mechanic. The fighting will not simply be Genshin Impact's standard action battling below the surface, but will utilize a different style of combat and enemies unique to the depths. It'll be more complex than traversing on land, and fortunately the team at Hoyoverse opted NOT to have an oxygen bar. Diving will serve a great importance to solving puzzles and locating items, the functionality of this swimming mechanic hangs precariously on its ability to control well and remains intuitive.
