Huge F-Zero Fan Shot Down After Paying $40,000.00 To Ask If The Series Is Coming Back

What would you do with $40k? Perhaps using that to perhaps get some insider information straight from the source would be a wise decision. This is precisely what occurred with Nintendo at an investors meeting when a fan who spent 5.6 million yen (converting to over $40,000USD) last Wednesday to attend it, as verified by a Nintendo representative. The question was a "bonus". According to Business Insider, the fan based in Japan, who asked to remain anonymous (going only by their Twitter handle Momiji), invested the $40k into 100 shares of Nintendo stock to be a part of the annual meeting to ask about a revival of their favorite Nintendo series, F-Zero.

Momiji directly asks Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa if they had considered relaunching many fan-favorite franchises, namely F-Zero. The answer was not what the fan had expected, or wanted, to hear. The translation is courtesy of Video Games Chronicle.

"It is realistically difficult to develop new titles and remakes, including sequels, for every Nintendo game that people request", Furukawa replied, "but we are very grateful and appreciate the expectations our fans have for our games."

Nintendo's response may not be a popular one, but in an ever-changing video game environment with different demands, they do have a valid point. Even if a title is beloved, a new generation of gaming fans may not embrace it as fans of yesteryear did. With Mario Kart 8 being the continued success it has been for the Nintendo Switch after the deluxe update, F-Zero may not be able to appeal beyond a niche volume of Nintendo fans.

"I have been playing Nintendo games since I was a child," Momiji said, speaking to Insider via Twitter DMs. "Among all, that sense of speed in 'F-Zero' is the best."

There hasn't been a new F-Zero game since 2004's F-Zero Climax for the Game Boy Advance. The franchise has remained a staple in the Smash Bros. games with appearances by Captain Falcon and themed stages.
