For a game whose fate was considered dead on arrival, the long-awaited sequel which seem to teeter on vaporware has seen a successful launch. After nearly a decade of delays, Dead Island 2 was released across the PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms this weekend to much fanfare.
According to Video Games Chronicle, publisher Deep Silver made a press release to share the information that Dead Island 2 reached the 1 million unit sales milestone since its release over the weekend. The sales figures for the original game were reported to be roughly around 5 million since its release back in 2011. Deep Silver and developer Dambuster Studios shared the metrics regarding the game's appeal.
- Over 11 million hours played
- 28 million players have died during play
- 45 million zombies were cut in half
- Over 756 million limbs cut off
