Street Fighter 6's World Tour Mode Gives Players Their Own RPG

Street Fighter 6 is less than two months away (time flew by rather quick following Capcom Cup IX), and Capcom recently held a showcase with details regarding what's new for the latest entry. Street Fighter has always been at the forefront of fighting game influence, and while the 2009 era of Ultra Street Fighter 4 pulled 2D fighting games back into prominence, the last two entries of Street Fighter still had a gap to bridge between the casual player and the more skilled community.

One of Street Fighter 6's biggest changes to single player content is the inclusion of World Tour, in which individuals take on the role of a potential combatant aiming to get stronger. Create your own custom avatar with a rather deep creator system (where character's limbs and height play a part in hit box and hurt box confirms), partake in training sessions with Street Fighter legends and gradually learn their skills. As you level up, you'll be able to further customize your skills, and your moveset. You have the ability to buy vitality replenishing items to regain health and provide an edge in encounters as well as buffs and debuffs.

The purchase of flight tickets help you travel the globe from Metro City and hone your skills by gathering points and applying them to your stat tree. This could leave the Street Fighter 6 a pretty vast area to explore and run into various players. Even cast members of Final Fight, like not only the Mad Gear Gang, but allies like Carlos Miyamoto make an appearance, along with a slew of original characters to interact with. Articles of clothing can be purchased, and affect your parameters and fighting abilities, and according to the showcase, they will change regularly.

While Street Fighter has its roots in tournament play and FGC moments like Daigo vs Justin Wong, the inclusion of a robust game mode like World Tour being integrated puts something in this entry that everyone can enjoy at their own pace. The first season timeline of DLC for Street Fighter 6 has also been revealed. Rashid is scheduled for this summer, A.K.I. slated for autumn, Ed for this coming winter, and Akuma for Spring of 2024.

Street Fighter 6 launches June 2nd for the PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam (PC). Currently a demo is available for the PS5 and PS4, and your built avatar character will be available for the full version of the game on the respective platform.
