Google Stadia Offers A Two Month Free Trial

If you happen to have a reasonably stable device, and never signed up for the early Founder's Edition package upon launch, Google has announced that Stadia is now free for two months as per the their recent trial plan. By signing up now, you can have access to the "Pro" edition of the Stadia bundle.

Stadia VP and general manager Phil Harrison produced a statement regarding this decision

"We’re facing some of the most challenging times in recent memory. Keeping social distance is vital, but staying home for long periods can be difficult and feel isolating. Video games can be a valuable way to socialize with friends and family when you’re stuck at home, so we’re giving gamers in 14 countries free access to Stadia Pro for two months. This is starting today and rolling out over the next 48 hours." - Phil Harrison Stadia VP

Prior to this, Google Stadia's Premiere Edition was $129 (US) that came with the controller. The Base tier still remains and players can switch over to that if they choose to not want to pay for the Pro tier. Stadia has continued to press on, even in wake of a lackluster launch and a continuing impatience with its install base regarding updates and any robust news regarding a roadmap. There was also the matter of Stadia leaving which games would arrive on the platform was up to the developers themselves, which left speculation muddy about the reported 120 games Google said would be available. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, this is a good gesture for anyone interested in giving it a look. Stadia still is looking for a means to thrive in the industry, but it's a road that is proving to be hard traveled.
