After A Long Silence, Metal Slug Tactics Sees A 2024 Release Date Window In New Trailer

It has been a long while since there has been any follow-up news to SNK's tactical RPG. Developed by Dotemu (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, Streets of Rage 4) the wait is over, and the radio silence has been broken. Originally announced back in 2021, Metal Slug Tactics now has a release date window of Fall of 2024, according to the newest trailer launched.

While no official reason was truly given, Metal Slug Tactics saw some apparent development setbacks since its announcements. In 2022, Dotemu announced the project will see a 2023 release date, but that was eventually delayed as well.
This can be considered a positive sign going forward for SNK's mission statement to revive a lot of its classic intellectual properties by teaming up with Tetris 99 developers Arika, and the Metal Slug series is one of the brand's signature standouts outside of the fighting game circle, it has been trusted in the hands of Dotemu. Metal Slug Tactics hopes to combine roguelike elements with the traditional tactical turn-based role-playing game format. In theory, it could possibly have a rather open-end play approach similar to Super Robot Wars 30. Will the Ikari Warriors like Leona, Ralf, Clark, Whip, and Heidern take a break from the King of Fighters tournament to join their allies?

Metal Slug Tactics is currently planned to be released in the fourth quarter of 2024 for the Nintendo Switch, Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PlayStation 5|4.
