Later this month, Enter the Dragon, the movie that cemented Bruce Lee as one of the planet's most influential action stars, celebrates its 50th anniversary (which will have a 4K redistribution). To commemorate the occasion, an animated project is in the works titled House of Lee, headed by his daughter, Shannon Lee and studio Shibuya (White Rabbit). 

After all these decades and many Bruce Lee imitations later, it's genuinely remarkable to see the action legend finally get an animated work. There have been movies and video games paying homage to him, but mostly met with middling results. The best being the Lee knockoffs, like Tekken's Marshall/Forest Law and Fei Long from Street Fighter. 

Planned as an action/fantasy series, House of Lee will see Bruce Lee assemble Dragon Warriors to battle the growing darkness that threatens to plunge the world into chaos and despair. 

“Anime is an amazing medium for telling a truly creative story where Bruce Lee can be Bruce Lee,” Shannon told Deadline. “I’m so excited for the possibilities for action, fantasy, history, culture, and creativity within this medium.”

Bruce Lee Entertainment had apparently been eager to produce a work related to his legacy for quite a while. Shannon was impressed by Emily Yang's directing of White Rabbit, and Managing Partner of Bruce Lee LLC Dennis Chang encouraged talks, seeing a mutual enthusiasm for a future project.

“He connected us and she told me about her House of Lee project which is an anime about the Lee family legacy,” Yang stated. “I found myself immediately resonating with the narrative as it touches on themes of spirituality, the battle against your inner demons, and so many aspects of the AAPI experience. It being such a personal story, Shannon wanted to really retain creative control and ownership. At Shibuya, our mission is to help creators do just that and so I knew this was something we had to be a part of.”

House of Lee is projected to launch in 2024-25.
