A new Switch may be larger with new Joy-Cons. The Original Switch Pro Controller May be compatible 

Information regarding the Nintendo "Switch 2" remains scant at this date, for a device that is speculated to launch in 2025. Many of the leaks have yet to be confirmed by the publisher/holder. This current information comes courtesy of long-time video game news publication Vandal, which has accurately reported news regarding Nintendo specs in the past, that the Switch successor will be a larger device than the original, but not reaching Steam Deck size. Their sources, (accessory manufacturers) are believed to have had some first contact experience.

According to the reporting, it could be speculated that Nintendo has opted out of the rails used to connect the Joy-Cons to the device in favor of magnetic attachments. If this change ends up true, this could mean backwards compatibility with the existing Joy-Cons very cumbersome, if possible at all. The current Switch Pro Controller, however, is said to be perfectly compatible, and the existing Switch software is strongly speculated to work. 

While it could be unfortunate for consumers that the Switch successor May be leaving its unique controllers in the past, this is something that could potentially be a silver lining. History dictates that the original Switch Joy-Cons were faulty, ran the risk of degrading rapidly, and heavily prone to drift since the hybrid console's launch, which Nintendo ignored at first, then offered to fix them for customers mailing them in. Perhaps a new model Joy-Con with more sophisticated architecture can significantly reduce, if not prevent, this matter altogether. With the new device packing more horsepower (reportedly being able to run "PS5-level games"), this strong first impression will pay dividends for the brand.
