After what seemed like years of speculation. We finally have confirmation on the newest 2K Games project. Marvel's Midnight Suns is being developed by Firaxis, the same team that brought us the XCOM series of tactical turn-based RPG games. 

Marvel's Midnight Suns is going to be a tactical strategy RPG that brings our heroes into the darker side of the Marvel Universe. You are going to see characters like Dr. Strange, Magik, Ghost Rider, and of course, Blade as they face the Mother of Demons - Lilith. 

Midnight Suns is based on the 1992 comic "Rise of the Midnight Sons" which tells the story of Lilith, a necromancer who was defeated by the Atlanteans a thousand years ago but gets her powers back and wreaks havoc until Doctor Strange assembles a team of heroes from the "dark side" to put a stop to her. 

The game is going to use that obscure comic as inspiration for a whole new story featuring Lilith and her child, the Hunter. 

The Hunter is a fully customizable original hero. This character is entirely yours to control, gear, and develop relationships with the other heroes. The game itself is going to be a mix of XCOM-style tactical combat with dialogue-driven relationship-building gameplay. 

The game is one part tactical-RPG and one part dating sim. Think, Fire Emblem. 

Midnight Suns is going to feature 12 playable characters spread across various different teams. We have some X-Men, some Avengers, Runaways, and even characters like Blade and Ghost Rider. 

While we got an announcement trailer, we didn't get any gameplay, but fear not true believer! Firaxis announced that September 1st will be getting a gameplay trailer.

Check back as more info is being released. I am not going to give my personal opinion until I see a gameplay trailer. So far, I am concerned - but I have faith in Firaxis. They are a great development team.
