Last night, after much delay, we got news on 3 different AEW games that will be releasing with two of them being mobile games. I am going to quickly cover those games now.
AEW Casino Double or Nothing
Being developed by KamaGames, Casino Double or Nothing is going to be a.. well.. casino game. You will be able to play AEW branded slots, blackjack, and roulette. The game will incorporate AEW music, sounds, videos, and will even have virtual wrestler avatars at the table playing with you.
The game is going to feature;
You will even have the change to win real AEW merchandise. AEW Casino Double or Nothing is set to release this winter to all Android and iOS devices.
AEW Elite GM
Being developed by Crystallized Games. In this simulation game, Elite GM puts you in the shoes of the General Manger where you will have to book matches, manage the roster, and run shows. Score too low in the ratings and your show gets canned.
AEW Elite GM has no release date, but it will be released for all Android and iOS devices.
Now for the big one.
All Elite Wrestling: The Game (title pending)
Yuke's Co. is a development company that has become synonymous with wrestling games in the last 20 years, having developed some of the best wrestling titles to ever be released (like every N64 wrestling game ever made). Not only is Yuke's doing it, but the legendary Hideyuki "Geta" Iwashita is going to direct it. The last wrestling game that Geta has been the director for was WWF's No Mercy released in the year 2000 for the N64. This was the pinnacle of wrestling games - and frankly, still one of the best wrestling titles to ever be released.
During the event, AEW's own Kenny Omega took to the stage (dressed as Steve Jobs) to announce this project. He explained that his intention for the game is to be easy to pick up, but hard to master. He reflected back on classic sports games like NBA Jam and NFL Blitz - two amazing arcady sports titles.
Yuke's being involved in this gives me high hopes - even though the studio's work on the WWE 2K series has became increasingly bad over the years, which caused WWE and 2K (the publisher) to break ties with Yuke's in 2018.
However, Yuke's has a decade long pedigree with wrestling games, and have developed some of the best ones in the industry.
Kenny then showed us some rough footage of the game.
I told you it was rough, but it brings back memories of the N64 titles with the over the top character models and the back-and-forth of the wrestlers.
With the experience that Yuke's brings to the table, and the creative team knowing what they want to make. I could see this game being amazing, and giving the WWE 2K games a run for their money.
AEW: The Game (title pending) will be released for current and last gen consoles. No word yet on a PC or Switch version.
